Open Call for the ENCATC 2018 Education and Research Session

In the context of the Congress "Beyond EYCH2018. What is the cultural horizon?", 26-29 September 2018 in Bucharest (Romania), ENCATC will organise an Education and Research Session on Friday, 28 September 2018. The organisers look for "perspectives to face ongoing transformations” from relevant disciplines. Participants are encouraged to address critical and inclusive views of cultural heritage and its relation with other cultural and creative sectors. More

12th Assembly

8th November 2017 in Prague

The Assembly of the European Association of Cultural Researchers has been held as a side event of the Compendium Assembly at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague. In addition to a review of the Compendium transformation and the admission of new members, decisions included updates of statutory provisions and the election of a new Board.

Cyprus Assembly of Compendium Stakeholders

The future Compendium "architecture" has been the main topic of this meeting on 30./31. March 2017 in Nicosia, hosted with great care by Cypriot authorities and the university. Stakeholders and experts, including from ECURES, set the agenda for the future of the information and monitoring system after 2017 (see Agenda).

For the first time, the International Conference on Cultural Policy Research will be held in July 2016 in Asia (Seoul). The deadline for early registrations ends May 16th, 2016 and regular registrations will be closed after June 11th, 2016. more »

ECURES Assembly in Wroclaw

Preceding the annual Compendium events on November 12 and 13, the 11th Assembly of the European Association of Cultural Researchers (ECURES) will be held on Thursday, 12 November, from 10 to 13h at the "Bar Barbara", Świdnicka 8b, Wroclaw/Poland - which is also the HQ and information centre for Wroclaw - European Capital of Culture 2016.

Main issues on the agenda:

 - Compendium developments;
 - ECURES work plan;
 - Election of a new Board.

"Arts Ecosystems in Asia" - Conference in Phnom Penh 2016

An Asia Pacific Network for Cultural Education and Research (ANCER) Conference will be organized by Cambodian Living Arts in Phnom Penh on 14-16 January 2016. The conference, entitled "Vitality and Viability: Arts Ecosystems in Asia", will include keynote speeches and working sessions, focusing on the themes of: regional networks; policy environments; leaders and managers; audience development. It will also feature a young researchers panel as well as a post-conference cultural tour in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. The call for submissions of proposals is open. UNESCO Diversity Specialists Selected

ECURES Members and "Compendium" experts among them

Among those selected to be part of the 2015-17 UNESCO Expert Facility aimed at supporting capacity development initiatives for the implementation of the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions are both ECURES members and actual or former experts of the Council of Europe/ERICarts "Compendium". They include: ECURES President Vesna Čopič, Milena Dragićević Šešić, Raj Isar, Nina Obuljen and Andreas Wiesand. Bob Palmer, former Council of Europe Director in charge of the Compendium and Sarah Gardner, Director of Compendium partner IFACCA, also form part of the group of 43 international specialists.

13th Assembly of Compendium Experts with Open Forum

Culture and Democracy II: Transparency in Multi-Stakeholder Governance Systems

The Assembly has been held December 4 and 5, 2014 at the Royal Academies for Science and the Arts of Belgium, Hertogsstraat / Rue Ducale 1 - 1000 Brussels (see more).  Inter alia, participants discussed the Council of Europe draft indicator framework on culture and democracy as well as related exercises carried out or proposed by the Boekman Foundation, the European Cultural Foundation, the ERICarts Institute and other bodies. The Public Forum for cultural policy-makers, researchers and practitioners discussed on 5 December, with case studies from Asia (Preeti Goankar), research reports from Belgium (Laurie Hanquinet / Alexander Van Der Stichele) and experts' positions from Finland (Kimmo Aulake), the Council of Europe (Ulrich Bunjes) and the European Union (Alain Ruche, EEAS).
